MARec – Museum of Recovered Art, in collaboration with the art gallery Contemporary Cluster, is pleased to present the group exhibition The Weight of the Void.

Featuring works by Elisa Capucci, Cristiano Carotti, Nicola Ghirardelli, Giuseppe Lo Cascio, Lorenzo Montinaro, Jacopo Naccarato, Maria Positano, and Jonathan Vivacqua.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Archdiocese of Camerino - San Severino Marche, thanks to the foresight of Archbishop Francesco Massara, who made it possible to present a contemporary art exhibition within the halls of the Museum of Recovered Art in San Severino Marche—a venue that, since 2016, has preserved Renaissance and other works salvaged from churches rendered unusable by recent earthquakes. This project received the support of the Marche Region, the Cassa di Risparmio Foundation of the Province of Macerata, and the Municipality of San Severino Marche.

The Weight of the Void aims to introduce new dimensions into the traditional museum context, highlighting the historical and social importance of sacred art objects, and ultimately dissolving the boundaries between the two. Eight young contemporary artists will exhibit their works across the museum’s eight rooms, offering a rich environment of stimuli and perspectives. Site-specific works, ephemeral installations, and light sculptures contrasts with the weight of the sacred and the heavy imagery that permeates the museum.
